An Almost Encounter With A 2 Headed Turtle

So we go to the Hamilton Dog House in Brooklyn.

Our mission is to report on a rare find, a two-headed turtle on display at the pet supply store. We get to the store on 3rd Avenue and the story takes a twist...the turtle is gone!

Apparently, the turtle-napper took advantage of the fact that the turtle was prominently displayed at the front of the store. Then, while employees were busy, the thief must have just reached into the turtle's aquarium, grabbed the animal, and took off.

In writing this blog I needed to know: Is a two-headed turtle a he/she or a they?

The store owner seemed to suggest "they" is more accurate, but the owner also seemed more comfortable with "he." So, he it is.

Theories range from a childhood prank to a lucrative business transaction (apparently this rare turtle could fetch thousands of dollars).

Whatever the motive, two-headed turtles require extra care, so his life is in jeopardy. In addition, the turtle has a significant amount of emotional value to the store's owner. He also runs the adjacent animal rescue, in fact he nursed this turtle back to health. He plans to offer a reward for the safe return of "Mr. Turtles."

I only call him that because he hasn't yet been named (the store was going to organize a naming contest in near future). To the culprit: whoever you are... please return the turtle. Even if you're not caught right away... it could catch up to you... remember... slow and steady wins the race.
